Frequently Asked Questions
How can I get a free domain name for my band?
Short Answer
Claim one free domain in your dashboard with the Pro plan, monthly or yearly.
Long Answer
We suggest a few names based on your artist name, or you can search for the exact one you want. Free domains end in .com, .net or .org. We register it, connect it to your website and set up HTTPS for you, usually within a few minutes.
Do I own the domain?
Short Answer
Yes. Your domain is registered in your name, so you're the legal owner.
Long Answer
About My Sound manages the registration for you and keeps your personal contact details private in the public WHOIS record. If you ever leave, the domain stays yours, and we'll transfer it to you if you ask.
What happens to my domain if I cancel Pro?
Short Answer
It keeps working until its next renewal date.
Long Answer
Renewals are free while you're on Pro. If you cancel or switch to Essential, we won't renew it when the year is up. Come back to Pro before then to keep it, or ask us to transfer it to you so you can renew it yourself.
Can I use a domain I already own?
Short Answer
Yes. Pro lets you connect a domain you bought anywhere else, at no extra cost.
Long Answer
You don't need to transfer it. Our setup guide shows you the two DNS records to add at your registrar, like GoDaddy, Namecheap or Squarespace, and checks them for you. Your domain stays where it is, and we add a free security certificate (HTTPS) once it's connected.
Is the domain free during my 14-day trial?
Short Answer
You can pick your name anytime. We register it once your paid Pro plan starts.
Long Answer
Domain registrations can't be refunded, so claiming your free domain during the trial starts your Pro plan that day. Not ready yet? Your site works on your free artistname.aboutmysound.com address until you are.
